The Academy of the Word was designed as a university for marginalized people (we charge no fees) but it has been found to be of interest to people of all walks of life. It is the teaching arm of St. Francis Community, an incorporated non-profit company and a charity registered for tax deductibility on donations. All are welcome. The only requirement for our Biblical Theology classes is the ability to read and/or listen with an open heart.

We encourage new insights into spiritual life, religious studies, creative initiatives as well as seminar programmes on Healing and Wellbeing global philosophies, politics, economics, State of the World, etc. We have a monthly seminar designed for Christian Scholars.

St. Francis Community is a Catholic Charismatic Renewal Community, set up in the 1970’s to serve marginalized people in the inner city of Sydney.
